9.0 REVISIONS DESCRIPTIONS

This section has been added to provide information regarding significant
revisions made since the original Flood Insurance Study was printed.
Future revisions may be made that do not result in the republishing of
the Flood Insurance Study report. To assure that any user is aware of
all revisions, it is advisable to contact the community. repository of
flood hazard data located at the Town Hall, 486 San Juan Street, Pagosa
Springs, Colorado.

9.1 First Revision

This section revises and updates a previous Flood Insurance
Study/Flood Insurance Rate Map for the Town of Pagosa Springs.
This information will be used by the Town of Pagosa Springs to
update existing floodplain regulations as part of the Regular Phase
of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). The information
will also be used by local and regional planners to further promote
sound land use and floodplain development.

In some states or communities, floodplain management criteria or
regulations may exist that are more restrictive or comprehensive
than the minimum Federal requirements. In such cases, the more
restrictive criteria take precedence and the State (or other
juriSdictional agency) will be able to explain them.

Authority and Acknowledgments

The hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for McCabe Creek and West
Fork McCabe Creek were performed by the U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers (COE), Sacramento District, for FEMA, under Contract No.
EMW-87-E-2549, Project Order No.7. This study was completed in
June 1989.

Coordination

A meeting concerning the analysis of the reaches of McCabe Creek
and West Fork McCabe Creek within the Town of Pagosa Springs was
held on April 5, 1989, in Pagosa Springs. Representatives of the
Town, the State of Colorado, FEMA, and the study contractor were in
attendance. The reason for this meeting was to discuss the nature
and purpose of the study, the scope and limits of the analysis and
the flood information currently available concerning the community.

On May 4, 1990, the results of the study were reviewed at a final
community coordination meeting attended by representatives of FEMA,
the study contractor, and Town of Pagosa Springs.

Scope of Study

The areas of McCabe Creek and West Fork McCabe Creek studied by
detailed methods were selected with priority given to all known
flood hazard areas and areas of projected development or proposed
construction through June 1994.

31
