Seedi~g ~ith Fab~ic ~at Revetme~t

On distu~bed st~eam sections when vegetative type protection ls desirable
without willows, seeding grasses with fab~ic mat ~~'tection may be the solu-
tion,

Stream banks should be shaped to a 3:l slape or greater and seeded wlth a nix
of adapted ~rass... The mix should include specie!! capable of withstandlng
excessive ~oi3ture to species which are quite drougl1t tolerant (i.a. canary-
grass/creeping foxtail - brome - wheatgrasses). The seeded section should
then be covered with erasion co~trol revegetation mat and staked dawn to
stabillze the sectlon until sad ls established, This practice can be used
below the temporary high water line, but not norme:Lly where perennial flaws
occur.

Some stralght rOllch..s and reeches with a sl1ght munder can be protected by
just shaping and se..ding the banks. This can be d',ne in channels above tl1e
water line and wher.. the flaw velocity is law.

Maintenance requirenents for this practice include periodic checks to ensure
fabric mat ls adequately staked and additional ..eding if necessary,

This practice may be applied along with structural stabilLzation projects.

58
