- REQUEST FOR LETTER OF MAP
OF COLORADO AT BOULDER-

Dear Mr, Johnson:

Enclosed is the above-referenced engineering report which
provides information for the Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) of
the existing Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) for Boulder
Creek in Boulder, Colorado,

This LOMR is being requested by our firm on behalf of our
client, the University of Colorado at Boulder (University), a
state entity, in order to take into account the construction
of the Drainage, Grading and Wetland Improvements Project
sponsored and funded by the University, This project
constructed grading improvements to FEMA criteria which will
convey the 100-year flood flows, Construction of this
project was completed in the fall of 1988. As-built
topographic mapping has been prepared of the completed
project at a scale of l-inch equals 50 feet with a l-foot
contour interval. The mapping has a flight date of December
5, 1988 and is prepared according to national mapping
standards, The hydraulic analysis uses this mapping and as-
built field surveyed cross sections to define the floodplain
and floodway boundaries.

The existing FIRM for Boulder was prepared utilizing the U,S,
Army Corps of Engineers HEC-2 Program,

The enclosed report defines the 100-year floodplain and
floodway for Boulder Creek by detailed methods according to
the requirements stipulated in the FEMA publication entitled,
"Appeals, Revisions and Amendments to Flood Insurance Maps, A
Guide for Community Officials", dated September, 1985, Our
report includes water surface profile information for the
10-, 50-, 100- and SOO-year events,
