Task 5 - Corridor Study

We feel that the scope of this task is significantly out of
proportion. The City of Cortez feels strongly about using
the existing right-of-way of record for the raw water line,
Please keep in mind that we are replacing an old line, not
building a completely new raw water distribution project.

We have no objections to other alternate routes being
examined, but the depth of analysis described in the pro-
posed Scope of Work is excessive. In practical terms, the
costs involved in relocating the line and negotiating new
easements would be excessive in terms of both money and
time.

We request, therefore, that Task 5 be significantly
reduced in scope and that primary emphasis be placed on
utilizing the existing alignment.

2. Task 7 - Survey and Togography

We have no specific problem with this task; however, it
should be noted that the work completed in this task will
be used for final designs.

3. Task 8 - Geotechnical Analysis

Our engineering staff feels that whereas soil boring will
be useful for determining available soil cover and rock
depths for design and construction, the areas of ground
water concern are evident and piezometers will be of

210 EAST MAIN STREET

CORTEZ, COlORADO 81321

(303) 565-3402
