that flood hazards and future flood damages arc minimized.
The report includes information on historical floods, factors
which influence these flood hazards and the nature and extent
of probable future floods.
The report data includes flooded area maps delineating the
100 year flood boundary, flood profiles and flood plain cross
sections showing the high water elevations for the 10, 50,
100, and 500 year floods at selected reference points.
Information is alsb included on the peak flow of the Colorado
River and Roaring Fork River for June 15, 1973, which has been
adopted by the City of Glenwood Springs for implementation of
a 30 foot setback limit. A supplement to this report in the
form of a Technical Addendum includes the supporting engineering
and hydrologic data and computations.

The Sacramento District Corps of Engineers has com9leted a
Flood Insurance Study for certain unincorporated areas of
Garfield County for the Federal Insurance Administration
(reference 1). The study docs not overlap the study area for
this report, but docs match to the upper limit of this study
on the Roaring ~'ork River. The study established flood flows
on the Colorado River and Roaring Fork Rivers in the study
area. The flood discharges established by the Corps of Engi-
neers have been adopted for this report. For additional in-
formation concerning hydrology on the rivers, refer to the
FlOOd Insurance Study.
The results presented herein are to be considered authorita-
tive for purposes of flood plain information and flood plain
management.
