<br />Of Canon City, The upper rea~hes of the waters~ed begin at about 6,400
<br />feet ~ean seJ level elevation and extends in a south~rly direction to
<br />the Arkan,as River at 5282 feet eleyation. Plate I shows the location
<br />of the basin within Fr~ont County.
<br />The study area has a cli~ate typical of Front Range comw~nities in

<br />the area. Flooding conditions have occurred in 1906, 1921,1935, 1941,
<br />1954,1955,1974andIg79.
<br />~ost of the flood da~age has occurrec i~ the lower half of the
<br />dr~inage area, '~here the two tirbutaries combine and seek the lNJland,
<br />a long the Arkansa~ Ri ver. SUrmlary of floods occurring Ju~e 4, 1921,

<br />:5, 1979 are contained in articles from the local n"wspapers. The flood
<br />of 1921 appears to ha'le becn the highest flood flow ever in Canor Cit y.
