Dany Gazette, M!)n~. June 21, 1965, Rocky Ford* Colo.

.

Holly was one of the volley's hardest hit areas.
This view looking northwest toward town shows.
everything south of the tracks completely flooded
and most of the area north of the tracks got an
average of six incbes of water. Bisecting the photo
near the elevators is Santa Fe Railway with trains
held up when tracks between Lamar and Holly wash.
ed out in Friday's ,flood. Hiway 50 just north af the
tracks and running parallel was badly washed at
H911y and completely washed out in several places
between Lamar and Holly. Huge chunks of the pav.
ing could be' seen washed into borrow pits and
nearby fields. Two hiway bridges washed out be-
\ween Lamar and Holly but the railroad bridges did
not. However tracks were twisted off their grades
and thrown over into rights of way'by the floods.

Figure 1. HISTORIC FLOOD SCENE--June 1965

App. 4
8
