WHEREAS, a floodplain information report entitled "Special
Flood Hazard Report to Revise Flood Plain Information Report, Metro-
politan Region, Denver, Colorado, Volume II, Sand, Toll Gate and
Lower Cherry Creek, South platte River Basin," dated July, 1971, has
been previously prepared by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha
District; which report was approved by the Colorado Water Conservation
Board through a resolution adopted on March 8, 1972; and

WHEREAS, a new floodplain information report entitled "Flood
Hazard Area Delineation, Sand Creek," dated March, 1977, has been
prepared by the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District, which
updates and revises the previous flood information report for Sand
Creek; and

WHEREAS, the Urban

WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1), Colorado Revised Statutes 1973,
requires the Colorado Water Conservation Board to assist in the pre-
vention of floods and flood damages therefrom; and

WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-201 and 30-28-111, Colorado Revised
Statutes 1973, provide that such legislative bodies of local juris-
dictions may provide zoning regulations for land uses on or along any
storm or floodwater runoff channel or basin only after designation and
approval by the Colorado Water Conservation Board; and

~f:HEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1) (c), Colorado Revised Statutes
1973, directs the Colorado Water Conservation Board to designate and
approve storm or floodwater runoff chapnels or basins and to make such
designations available to legislative bodies of local jurisdictions;
and

WHEREAS, the staff of the Board has reviewed the said revised ,
report for Sand Creek and does hereby recommend that the Board designate
and-approve-as-~loodplain-areas-thosa-area8-inundata~~a-10~-year
flood (intermediate regional flood) as described by the floodwater
surface elevations and profiles in said revised report for Sand Creek;
and further recommends that the floodplain designation for Sand Creek
only as approved by the previous resolution of March 8, 1972, be
