Moore Memorial Park"
by land and Water Consultants, Inc.
Prepared in 1976

The purpose of the study was to evaluate the possibility of a flood-detention
facility on Spring Creek on a 65-acre site located on the west side of
South Shields Street between West Prospect Street and West Drake Road.
The area would have the dual purpose of: 1) a flood-detention facility
and, 2) a recreational and sport facility. The conclusion reached
indicated that, although the dam project might be feasible, its advisability
is seriously questioned until a master drainage plan for the entire reach
of Spring Creek and related watersheds is developed and alternatives to
detention are explored. The detention facility at Moore Park is Detention
Basin #2 in the Black and Veatch study of 1971.

Since there are no stream gaging stations on Spring Creek or other similar
streams in the vicinity, the CUHP method was used to determine hydrology.

An additional study was conducted as a part of this report on Black and
Veatch's proposed detention facility #3. land and Water Consultants
concluded that only slight peak reduction (about 5%) would be achieved--
allowing for importation of canal water--from this facility. For the
100-year storm without importation, the peak is reduced from about
2,900-cfs to 2,700-cfs. The facility has a very limited capacity without
moving some nearby residential structures. This facility is located
just west of Taft Hill Road.

The following sheets detail information taken from the "Preliminary Design
Report for Rolland l~. Moore ~1emorial Park".
