It is important
to note that flood e 1 evati ons and the correspondi ng f1 oodpl ai n are
often altered by road and bridge construction, floodplain development,
flood control improvements, or natural processes. Prior to
utilization of this report for planning or design purposes, the user
is advised to contact the UDFCD, the Cities of Thornton or Brighton,
or Adams County to determine if the information in this report has
been amended.

- STUDY AREA AND BASIN DESCRIPTION -

- ACKNOWLEDGMENTS -

Todd Creek is a 1 eft bank tri butary of the South Pl atte Ri ver. Its
confluence is located approximately 3200 feet south of 160th Avenue,
or at 155th Avenue extended. Todd Creek has its headwaters in the
ridge adjacent to the Big Dry Creek (AdCo) basin at elevations
exceeding 5,370 feet (NGVD), and flows generally in an east to
northeasterly direction. At its South Platte River confluence, Todd
Creek drains 7.84 square miles, and the elevation is approximately
4,970 feet (NGVD). The detailed study reach of the Todd Creek main
stem is approximately 5.9 miles long with the upstream study limit
near Holly Street and 144th Avenue. The specific study reaches total
10.9 stream miles, and are identified as follows:

This report was prepared by Muller Engineering Company, Inc.,
Consulting Engineers of Lakewood, Colorado, under contract with the
Urban Drainage and Flood Control District (Agreement No. 84-12.01).

. Todd Creek - main stem from confluence with the South Platte River
to northwest of the Holly Street and East 144th Avenue
intersection (5.87 stream miles).

Topographic mapping, digitized cross sections, and survey data for
stream crossings were provided by Delta Aerial Surveys, Inc., of
Denver, Colorado. Original mapping was prepared with two-foot contour
i nterva 1 s at a scale of 1" = 100' (Reference 2). The fi nal mappi ng
was reduced by 50 percent for printing in this report. The mapping
was prepared according to the specifications of the UDFCD.

. Tributary No. 1 - left bank tributary to the main stem, beginning
at the southeast corner of the Yosemite Street and
East 160th Avenue intersection, and ending at its
confluence with the main stem near the center of
Section 10, T.1S, R.67W. (0.77 stream miles).

. Tributary No.2 - left bank tributary to the main stem, beginning
at Monaco Street 1200 feet north of 152nd Avenue, and
ending at the existing Smith Reservoir in Section 9,
T.1S, R.67W. (1.01 stream miles).

Future land use data were obtained through the Planning Departments of
Adams County, the City of Thornton, and the City of Brighton.

. Tributary No.3 - right bank tributary to the main stem, beginning
northeast of the Holly Street and East 144th Avenue
intersection, and ending at its confluence with the
main stem about 1300 feet east of Holly Street in
Section 17, T.1S, R.67W. (0.50 stream miles).

Information on the state registered irrigation reservoirs within the
study area was obtained through the assistance of the Office of the
State Engineer, Division of Water Resources - Dam Safety Branch.

. Tributary No.4 - right bank tributary to the main stem, beginning
southwest of the Quebec Street and East 144th Avenue
i ntersecti on, and endi ng at its confl uence with the
main stem and Tributary No.1 near the center of
Section 10, T.IS, R.67W. (2.75 stream miles).

2
