T oor
Mayor, City of Boulder
Municipal Building
1777 Broadway
Boulder, CO 80306

Community: City of Boulder, CO
Community No.: 080024
Panel Affected: 08013C0535 F
Effective Date of 0 C T 1 0 2003
This Revision:

102-I-C

Dear Mayor Toor:

This responds to a request that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) revise the effective
Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) for Boulder County, Colorado and Incorporated Areas (the effective
FIRM for your community), in accordance with Part 65 of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP)
regulations. In correspondence dated June 5, 2003, Ms. Nancy Boudreau Love, P.E., Love &
Associates, Inc., requested that FEMA revise the FIRM to modifY the effects of a Letter of Map Revision
(1:0MR:)'issued'on'0ctober.29,2002,that.became.effective.on.Eebruary.21..20.Q3_( Case No. 02-08- 340P).
This LOMR is being issued to more accurately show on the FIRM the boundary delineations of the flood
having a I-percent chance of being equaled or exceeded in any given year (base flood), the flood having a
0.2-percent chance of being equaled or exceeded in any given year, and the regulatory floodway along
Bear Canyon Creek from just downstream of Stanford A venue to Lehigh Street, as shown on the submitted
topographic work maps entitled "City of Boulder, Colorado Bear Canyon Creek" (Sheets 6 and 7),
prepared by Love & Associates, Inc., dated February 2002.

We have revised the FIRM to modifY the alignments of the floodplain and floodway boundary delineations
of the base flood along the above-referenced reach of Bear Canyon Creek with respect to the roads. As a
result of the modifications, the widths of the Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA), the area that would be
inundated by the base flood, and the regulatory floodway along Bear Canyon Creek increased in some
areas and decreased in other areas. The modifications are shown on the enclosed annotated copy of FIRM
Panel 08013C0535 F. This LOMR hereby revises the above-referenced panel of the effective FIRM dated
June 2, 1995.

The modifications are effective as of the date shown above. The map panel listed above and as modified
by this letter will be used for all flood insurance policies and renewals issued for your community.

A review of the determination made by this LOMR and any requests to alter this determination should be
made within 30 days. Any request to alter the determination must be based on scientific or technical data.
