Lang <br /> <br />DATE: October 27, 1995 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Agenda Item 5c, November 6-7, 1995 Board Meeting -- <br />South Platte RiverPloodplain Project, Right-of Way Requests <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />The Board has received ten (10) requests for usage of certain Right-of-Way (ROW) lands <br />and stormwater drainage structures which are part of the "Chatfield Downstream Channel <br />Improvement Project" on the South Platte River within the Denver metropolitan area downstream <br />of Chatfield Reservoir (Reach II). The completed flood control project extends from Chatfield <br />Reservoir downsteam to West Hampden A venue approximately 8.3 miles, which includes reaches <br />I & II. <br /> <br />The project consists of channel improvements capable of passing a 100-year flood under <br />future developed conditions in the contributing drainage area. The Colorado Water Conservation <br />Board (CWCB) is the local sponsor for this U.S. Army Corps of Engineer's project. The State <br />of Colorado, acting by and through the Department of Natural Resources' CWCB, entered into <br />a contract with the Corps through agreements dated September 7, 1977 and January 29, 1980, <br />respectively. These contracts required the CWCB to fulfill a number of non-federal contractual <br />provisions during the initial construction ofthe project and for the operation and maintenance of <br />the projects features for its project life. The project was satisfactorily completed on April 25, <br />1988 and conveyed to the Board in a letter from the Corps dated March 28, 1990. <br /> <br />w:\boardmem\nov95\agenda5.nov <br />
