-.

Elevating a Mobile Home

The three basics of proper elevation and anchoring of a manufactured home are: Foundations, cross bracing, and tie-downs. All three are ess.
in creating a safe and secure mobile home installation. ...

u~_!., ~~
~~ _i......J.-1...;.;..~.;
-:='<.'.'. . . Piers can be
of poured concrete or concrete blocks reinforced with rebar; the blocks
must be filled solid with concrete. Cast threaded anchor bolts into the
top of each pier so the mobile home frame can be anchored to the
foundation. In areas with soft ground, post foundations may be able to
achieve the required foundation strength. Drive posts into the ground
down to a rock foundation, or to a depth specified by an engineer. Backfill
posts with concrete for maximum strength.

~.., ....
r <:.:)f~~~:~:}
........ . Bracing can be achieved with 2-inch
nominal lumber bolted to the piers, or with steel rods flned through
drilled holes and fastened with nuts.

==. ;-

"i /
"1".~

. ..v I . . ___
,11/--

i . ·
'I'::ll

L. .:: -.ll
/W
/ -
==-=-j -

Diagonal Braci.Dg with Wood

Diagonal Braang with Slee1 Rods

Tie-down straps

TIe.down straps are used at the base of the manufactured home and can
be tied over the top. The most common failure is pullout of the ground
anchor.
