Assuming a <br />triangular shaped hydrograph, the base time is <br />estimated at <br /> <br />tb = 2 V / qp <br />= 2 (33,275)(43,560)/(474,291)(3,600) <br />= 1.70 hours. <br /> <br />The freeboard storage volume in Lake Catamount is <br />calculated as the difference between the volume with <br />the water in the reservoir at the top of the dam and <br />the volume when the water is at the elevation of the <br />spillway, or <br /> <br />V's = 18,900 - 7,422 <br />= 11,478 acre feet. <br /> <br />Assuming the shape of the inflow triangular <br />hydrograph is a right triangle, it can be determined by <br />solving two equations simultaneously that the time to <br />fill the freeboard storage space is approximately <br /> <br />t, = 0.33 hours. <br /> <br />20 <br />
