<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />Detailed Studies <br /> <br />1 ) <br /> <br />Floodplain Information Studies <br /> <br />Those flood hazard areas delineated by detailed methods <br />are done so through an in-depth investigation which <br />includes flood history research, watershed development <br />patterns, hydrologic evaluation of the watershed to <br />develop flow rates (discharges for the study streams), <br />hydraulic flow routing computations to obtain the flood- <br />water surface elevation, and a portrayal of flood out- <br />lines on detailed topographic mapping. Some studies <br />also define a floodway area, which is the high hazard <br />zone within the 100-year floodplain. <br /> <br />These study reports and maps are usually prepared by the <br />following agencies: FEMA (formerly Federal Insurance <br />Administration), the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the <br />USDA Soil Conservation Service, the Urban Drainage and <br />Flood Control District, the CWCS, and private consul- <br />tants under contract either to a local jurisdictional <br />body or to a private developer.
