Olson <br />Federal Insurance Administration <br />Executive Tower <br />1405 Curtis street <br />Denver, Colorado 80202 <br /> <br /> <br />Dear Mr. Olson: <br /> <br />The ColoradO Water Conservation Board recently received <br />a copy of the preliminary flood insurance study for Commerce City, <br />Colorado, from Gingery Associates for review and comments. <br /> <br />Elevation reference marks shall be established <br />and recorded in and near the flood plain of <br />streams studied in detail. These shall include <br />existing elevation references and any vertical <br />control established for the Flood Insurance <br />study. Elevation reference marks shall be <br />located so that no point in a Special Flood <br />Hazard Area is further than 2,000 feet from the <br />nearest mark. <br /> <br /> <br />Since the study area lies within the Urban Drainage and <br />Flood Control District, the report was not reviewed in detail, <br />rather the CWCB will rely on the UD&FCD's review. <br /> <br />We did find, however, that the study apparently does not <br />meet the FIA Schedule for Flood Insurance StUdies, Task 3 - Surveys, <br />which states in part: <br /> <br />The reference marks shown on the FHBM and FIRM work maps <br />do not meet the above criteria. <br />
