C. 20410 Dear Mr. Krimm: The Colorado Water Conservation Board received on June 13, 1977, from Dames and Moore, the preliminary FlOOd Insurance Study for Commerce city, Colorado, and notice of the 90-day appeal period, which began on April 14, 1977. The Commerce city study was prepared by Gingery Associates, Inc., and includes Sand Creek and the South Platte River. The discharges, water surface elevations, and profiles for Sand Creek were originally developed by the Corps of Engineers, and the study was designated by the Colorado Water Conservarion Board on July 27, 1977. Because the FIA's study is in agreement with the designated study, no action will be required by the Colorado Water Conservation Board. The South Platte River has been studied by the Corps of Engineers and a floodplain information study was designated by the Colorado Water Conservation Board in 1967. Due to construction of Chatfield and Bear Creek Reservoirs, and other changes, the previous study is not valid and any new study along the South Platte River must be designated and approved by the Board. The Flood Insurance Study for Commerce city prepared by Gingery Associates, Inc., is based on preliminary Corps of Engineers' hydrologic data, field surveys, and additional cross-sections by Gingery Associates.
