Reach A, A grass-lined improved channel is required throughout
the reach to handle 2,700-cfs, with expanded culverts under all
ro~d~ay crossings, i~cluding Meadow Lane and Highway 287.

Reach B: A siphon was used to carry the Larimer and Weld County
Canal beneath the improved Dry Creek channel. No channel exists
south of the canal for I,OOO-feet and in this area, one home and
several mobile homes would be relocated to make room for channel
improvements. An improved culvert to pass 2,700-cfs is required
through the College Avenue area. A grass-lined bypass channel
with a culvert under LeMay AVenue is required in the vicinity of
the Alta Vista community.

Reach B: At the Larimer and Weld County Canal, the flow is
diverted to a new channel to the poudre River bypassing Dry
Creek. The canal was placed in a siphon and two new culverts
were required for the Union Pacific Railroad and Willox Lane.
An improvcd culvert was designed to replace those existing upstream
and downstream of College Avenue and a bypass channel around the
Alta Vista area is required with a new box culvert under LeMay
Avenue.

Reach C: An improved grass. lined channel designed for the
residual lOa-year flow is required through the Valley Airpark
area and south of Highway 14 to the poudre River. culvert
improvements for the airport runway and two lccal streets and a
siphon for the Cache la poudre Reservoir Inlet Canal were alsO
included. This Reach C alternative is identical to Reach C
improvc~ents for Alternative Jll.

Reach C: A concrete-lined channel is required to convey 2,700-cfs
through the Valley Airpark area and south of Highway 14 to the Cache
la poudrc River. Again, culvert improvements would be included
at two local street crossings and Highway 14. The Cache la poudre
Reservoir Inlet Canal was routed through a siphon under Dry Creek.

Alternative ,4

AltcJ:native !!3

The lO-year flood event was the design event for this alternative.
The channel and culverts in Reach A were improv~d to carry the
la-year storm, which is then diverted at the Larimer "flU Weld
County canal in a ::;han:"lcl to the PO'.Idr", River. Channel improvements
below the canal were sized to handle residual 10-year flows.

This alternative again was u<osigned for the lOa-year flood event.
Channel i~prove~e~ts consisting of grass and concrete-lined
chann('ls are rec:uired throughoClt the rench tor" design flow of
2,700-cf5.

Reach A: The existing channel in this roach is adequate to carry
the la-year event with improvements noeded only to the culvert
under Meadow Lane.

Reach .,,: Channel lroprovemcnts consisting of " grass-lined channel
were de5ia~eG to eo~tain 2.700-cfs thro~g~ this reach. Improved
culverts are r.,quLrod under ~\c"do'~' Lane and Hi'l~w,~y 287.

ReaCh B: The la-year flood event is diverted near the Larimer-
Weld Canal crossing into a grass-lined cha~nel south to the Poudre
River. The diversion includes a culvert under Willcx Lane. This
diversion also includes a siphon under the canal to separate canal
fluw:;; from DJ:Y Creek. ~o improvements are required through CnlJ~ge
Avenue. O~ly minor overflows are anticipated to result from

-27-

-28-
