This letter will serve
as the Colorado Water Conservation Board's (CWCB's) commitment to assist with the
matching requirements for FEMA's HMGP.

At the CWCB's November 25, 1997 meeting, the Board approved the City of Sterling's
application for $550,000 in construction funds for the Sterling Flood Mitigation Project.
The Board's action has been presented to the Colorado General Assembly for
authorization and funding in House Bill 1189, Section 1. These funds will be available in
June 1998. The Board will consider additional funding for the City of Sterling in 1999.

We thank you for your consideration of Sterling's application for HMGP funding.

7Y'~

';;::;!Lang, P.E., lef
Flood Control and I\ oodplain
Management Section

cc: Peter Evans
!leputy Director
