<br />5.4 Flood Insurance Rate Map Description <br /> <br />The Flood Insurance Rate Map for the Town of Hotchkiss is, for <br />insurance purposes, the principal product of the Flood Insurance <br />Study. This map contains the official delineation of flood insurance <br />zones ahd base flood elevations. Base flood elevation lines show <br />the locations of the expected whole-foot water-surface elevation <br />of the base (lOO-year) flood. The base flood elevations and zone <br />numbers are used by insurance agents, in conjunct1on w~tn structure <br />elevations and characteristics, to assign actuarial insurance rates <br />to structures and contents insured under the NFIP. <br /> <br />6.0 OTHER STUDIES <br /> <br />A Flood Hazard Boundary Map had been previously published for the Town <br />of Hotchkiss (Reference 12). Due to the more detailed analyses used, <br />this study supersedes the Flood Hazard Boundary Map. <br /> <br />The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has prepared a Flood Hazard Information <br />Hydrology report on Gunnison, North Fork Gunnison, and Uncompahgre Rivers <br />(Reference 8). Discharge values used in this Flood Insurance Study were <br />obtained from that report. <br /> <br />The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has prepared a Flood Hazard Information <br />report covering North Fork Gunnison River (Reference 7). Data and <br />analyses from that report were utilized in this Flood Insurance Study. <br />The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers work was revised by the study contractor <br />to reflect changes in Manning's Iln" values, bridge codings, and flood <br />plain delineation. The Colorado Water Conservation Board has reviewed <br />these revisions and concurs with the changes. <br /> <br />A Flood Insurance Study has been prepared for the unincorporated areas <br />of Delta County (Reference 1).
