,

.-.
..

2

The width of the Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) increased and decreased along the revised reach.
The SFHA width increased a maximum of 400 feet just upstream of Delaware Street and decreased a
maximum of 100 feet approximately 100 feet downstream of Delaware Street. The City of Littleton's
Department of Public Works notified property owners affected by the results of the revised analyses with
a letter dated December 4, 1995.

Floodway boundaries were not delineated for the reach of Slaughterhouse Gulch upstream of Fox Street.
The floodway shown on the effective FIRM downstream of Fox Street is contained by the Powers Park
Pond.

The modifications are shown on the enclosed annotated copies of FIRM Panel 0010 D and Profile
Panel 22P for the City of Littleton, Colorado. This LOMR hereby revises this panel of the effective
FIRM and the Flood Profile in the FIS report, both dated September 29, 1989. Profile Panels 22Pa and
22Pb were added to show the results of the revised analysis.

The enclosed annotated copy of FIRM Panel 0010 D also corrects a discrepancy between the effective
FIRM and the Flood Profile in the effective FIS report. The BFE shown on the FIRM approximately
700 feet downstream of Fox Street was revised from 5,407 feet, referenced to the National Geodetic
Vertical Datum (NGVD), to 5,410 feet NGVD to reflect the correct elevation as shown on the Flood
Profile.

The following table is a partial listing of existing and modified BFEs:

Location

Existing BFE Modified BFE
(feet)* (feet)*

Slaughterhouse Gulch:
Approximately 700 feet downstream of Fox Street
App~oximately 575 feet downstream of Fox Street
Approximately 200 feet downstream of Fox Street
Approximately 700 feet upstream of South Broadway

5,407
5,412
5,413
None

5,410
5,412
5,418
5,458

*Referenced to the NGVD, rounded to the nearest whole foot

Public notification of the revised BFEs will be given in the Littleton Independent on or about April 11
and April 18, 1996. A copy of this notification is enclosed. Any request for reconsideration must be
based on scientific or technical data. In addition, a notice of changes will be published in the Federal
Register.

The revised hydrologic analysis indicates that the base flood discharge at the downstream limit of the
revised reach is approximately 1,125 cubic feet per second (cfs). The base flood discharge used to
develop the effective FIRM and FIS report at the same location is approximately 1,350 cfs. Due to
present funding constraints, we must limit the number of physical map revisions processed.
Consequently, we will not republish the FIRM and FIS report for your community to reflect the
modifications described in this LOMR until the effects of the revised hydrologic analysis on the reach of
Slaughterhouse Gulch downstream of the reach modified by this LOMR are evaluated.
