COMMENTARV
SHEET 12OF45
STATION 1586+00 TO STATION 1730+00
REACH 3

COST ESTIMATE
SHEET 12 OF 45
SOUTH PLATTE RIVER
STATION 1686+00 TO STATION 1730+00

CONSTRUCTION

This reach includes a golf course and the confluence with Bear Creek on the
IMt bank. The area on the left bank near the confluence with Bear Creek
has been designated as a wildlife preserve and the channel on the right
bank next to the golf course has retained its natural appeara.nce. There
are no flooding problems in this reach.

Drainage improvement costs
Street crossing costs
Utility relocation costs
Total construction costs

Engineering and contingencies
(30% of total construction costs)

The recommended plan is to preserve the natural channel and prevent erosion
damage. Between Stations 1692 and 1708 on the right bank the bank 1s being
undercut. The recorrmendation is to cut back the slope to a more natural
a.ngleof repOSe and pldnt natural veqetationon the new slope. Itmaybe
necessary to place riprap at the toe of the slope to prevent further ero-
Sion. On the left bank between Stations 1687 and 1710 where the bank has
been disturbed by construction it should be planted with natural vegeta-
tion. An existing jetty on the left bank at approximately Station 1696
should be preserved to provide erosion protection.

Property acquisition

TOTAL IMPROVEMENT COSTS

Operation and Maintenance

The floodplain management strategy for this reach is to preserve its open
space character.

$54,500

54,500
16;350

$70,850

S6,130
