The western overb~nk conta i ns a gr aye 1 pit lake. The channel is experiencing some lateral migration, nowever, the extent is fairly limited. The proposed Ken Caryl Road alignment crosses the South Platte River at approximately Station 2000+00. Orainageimprovernentcosts Street crossing costs Uti1ityrelocationcosts Total construction costs Engineering and contingencies (30% of total construction costs) Property acquisition The improvements proposed to this area consist of the stabilization of channel banks with riprap and vegetation. This installation extends from Station 2012+50 to 2014+00, 1978+00 to 1994+50 and 1972+00 to 1978+50. The area in the vicinity of the Ken Caryl crossing requires stabilization on both channel banks between Stations 1994+50 and 1995+00. !nadditionto the riprap with vegetation, vegetative bank protection has been recommended between Station 1978+00 and 1994+50 in order to prevent erosion from pro- ceeding east Of the existing channel. This vegetation Should consist of native type grasses and trees. Trees include willows wl1ich help to anchor the SOil mass alon9 the cl1annel overbank. Thevegetationwill not extend '::own ~elow the low water l1ne, but rather will be pl anted on embankments above the channel bottom Hse1f. The riprap and vegetation used for stabi- liling the hanks should be in accordance with Detail 3 shown on Sheet 44.
