The western overb~nk conta i ns a gr aye 1 pit <br />lake. The channel is experiencing some lateral migration, nowever, the <br />extent is fairly limited. The proposed Ken Caryl Road alignment crosses <br />the South Platte River at approximately Station 2000+00. <br /> <br />Orainageimprovernentcosts <br />Street crossing costs <br />Uti1ityrelocationcosts <br />Total construction costs <br /> <br />Engineering and contingencies <br />(30% of total construction costs) <br /> <br />Property acquisition <br /> <br />The improvements proposed to this area consist of the stabilization of <br />channel banks with riprap and vegetation. This installation extends from <br />Station 2012+50 to 2014+00, 1978+00 to 1994+50 and 1972+00 to 1978+50. <br />The area in the vicinity of the Ken Caryl crossing requires stabilization <br />on both channel banks between Stations 1994+50 and 1995+00. !nadditionto <br />the riprap with vegetation, vegetative bank protection has been recommended <br />between Station 1978+00 and 1994+50 in order to prevent erosion from pro- <br />ceeding east Of the existing channel. This vegetation Should consist of <br />native type grasses and trees. Trees include willows wl1ich help to anchor <br />the SOil mass alon9 the cl1annel overbank. Thevegetationwill not extend <br />'::own ~elow the low water l1ne, but rather will be pl anted on embankments <br />above the channel bottom Hse1f.
