I
II
I
'I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

Mr. Buchholz
Page 2

Pertinent information from relevant studies and models was collected by using data collection forms
which were developed for this project. A database was then developed using Microsoft Access and
the collected data was entered into it. The database is very useful for sorting, querying, reporting,
and printing the collected information. The bibliography format for this report consists of a one page
printed form for each of the studies which were inventoried. Information about the associated HEC-
2 models for each study, if applicable, is also included on each of the forms. There are
approximately 60 forms included in this draft version of the bibliography, and the forms have been
sorted by stream name beginning with Bear Creek. Some of the more frequently used terms were
abbreviated in the database records. A list of the abbreviations used for this study is included in this
report prior to the bibliography.

Copies of the input decks for the collected hydraulic models are included in Volume II of this report.
A majority of the HEC-2 models were in hard-copy format and were obtained from the UDFCD
library. Additional models were copied from Greenhome & O'Mara storage files, however the
collection of available models from other private sources has not been completed at this time as we
are awaiting the transmittal of several models from area consulting frrms. We will incorporate the
additional models into the inventory as soon as we receive them. In addition, there are inventoried
studies which were produced by the Omaha Corps that we do not have HEC-2 models for. If you can
locate models for those studies and would like them to be incorporated into the bibliography, please
send them and we will gladly add them to the inventory.

A 24" by 36" map, located in the map pocket at the end of this report, graphically depicts the study
reaches and lists the HEC-2 models which have been copied and bound in Volume II of this report.
For the purposes of this study, file names were assigned to each of the input decks, and the models
were cross-referenced with their associated studies by use of both the assigned file names and the
database record numbers.

In general, the hard-copy hydraulic models were in relatively poor shape due to age, use, or other
factors, and therefore some of the copies made for this report may be somewhat difficult to read. In
addition, the cross-referencing of some of the models to their associated studies was also difficult
due to lack of documentation and other factors. Very few computer files were obtained for the study
reaches. Diskettes of the collected digital files are located in the plastic sleeves at the rear of this
report.

This draft report is undergoing additional review and refmement within our office concurrent with
the review by you and your staff. It is our understanding that a county-wide FIRM maps for both
Adams and Arapahoe Counties are to be published by FEMA during the next few months. Should
that published information become available during the course of this study, we can incorporate the
appropriate data into the bibliography. Also, a digital copy of the actual database will be transmitted
to you at a later date so the Corps can have it on file for future use.
