TOTAL IMPROVEMENT COSTS

Cost
$ 0
$ (840)
$12,200

$12,200

I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

COMMENTARY - SHEET 9

The moderate potential flood damage created by the backwater at Yarrow and
Vance Streets and the overtopping of Wadsworth Boulevard does not economically justify
any structural channel improvements. In addition, the ,3 foot of depth at which the 100
year storm overtops the crown of Wadsworth is sufficiently shallow to meet the Urban
Storm Drainllll:e Criteria Manual Recommendations (Reference E) as they pertain to
arterial streets. Twin 8' x 6' concrete box culverts have been constructed during the
writi~ of this report, connecti~ culverts beneath Yarrow and the private drive at Station
259 + 60.
Debris, trash, uprooted vegetation, and other material should be removed and kept
out of the channel to avoid any impediment of flow, particularly through the extended
culvert section. Floodplain use should be controlled and floodplain regulations should
continually be enforced. Special effort should be directed towards the monitoring of
further construction of underground culverts in this section of channel, as improper
extension of the existing culvert will result in a more severe backwater effect at the
inlet. Property owners who would be adversely affected by the 100-year flood should be
encouraged to acquire flood insurance. Residents in the vicinity of the 100-year flood
plain should be notified annually of the potential flood hazards.

TOTAL CONSTRUCTION COSTS - SHEET 9
Item
TOTAL CONSTRUCTION COSTS
Annual Operation and Maintenance Costs
Present Worth Operation and Maintenance Costs
