<br />\.J. <br /> <br />, . <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Stated that the National Weather Service still has reservations about being involved in <br />this project and may need money reallocated for travel expenses, He also explained <br />that Mr. White expressed interest in the NWS being involved with the projecl. <br />Dr. Ed Tomlinson stated that he had given the NWS a heads up about the goings of <br />the project, but timelines mayor may not have been discussed at that time, Mr. Lang <br />said he would send a follow-up his first letter 10 the NWS with a phone call to see <br />where they are at in their decision to be involved in this projecl. <br /> <br />Presentation #1 bv Dr, Ed Tomlinson: <br />Dr. Tomlinson began by reiterating that Mr. Doeskin would be brought up to date on <br />the project in a future meeting between he and Dr. Tomlinson, <br />Dr. Tomlinson covered the following items in his presentation: <br />o Review Topics I Project Status and new completions in the projecl. <br />o Task I - Completed; Task 2 - Nov, 15; Task 3 - Dec, I; Task 4 - Dec, I. <br />o Tasks 5,8 are work in progress, <br />o The final report is due March 31 st, <br />o Task 11 - Completed; Tasks 12-13 - work in progress, <br />o Budget has no new changes, <br />o Arapaho County has sent in their final paymenl. <br />o Monthly invoices have been sent to CWCB and alI are up to date at this time, <br />o The next meeting will be January 10th, <br />o Overview completed at this lime, <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Presentation #2 bv Dr. Tomlinson: <br />Reanalysis oflhe NWS HMR 52 runs and GRASS applications: <br />o Results - Basin size: 386,1 vs, 385,9 sq mi,; centroid identical; orientation: <br />160 degrees vs, 170 degrees; RainfalI: 11.43 inches vs, 11,06 inches for one <br />hour and 39,12 inches vs, 39.36 inches for 72 hours; Difference is ,6% due to <br />different program versions or typical computer numerical round-off, <br />o The original NWS figures came from a printout and the GRASS results were <br />derived form a CD-ROM, <br />Results of the GRASS file analysis: <br />o NWS ran GRASS version 4; GeoClim used version 4.3; no history files were <br />included in the NWS CD-ROM; Adjustment fields appear to have been <br />applied properly; Preliminary concerns center on the GIS I-hour rainfall <br />amount of 12,2 vs, the HMR 52 amount of 11.06, <br />o At this time, there are no MM5 model run copies, although some MM5 runs <br />have been completed at this time; New values wilI be entered into the model <br />and will be fine tuned as the runs progress; Topography can be eliminated <br />from the model to see the differences in the final storm model; Some ofthe <br />"what if' scenarios can also be modeled, <br />o Dr. Tomlinson stated, "The first runs are encouraging but not accurate," <br />o The GRASS runs should be rapped up by November 15th, <br /> <br />2 <br />
