These facilities are:
(1) Chatfield, (2) Cherry Creek, and (3) Bear Creek. Table III-2 summarizes
some of the most important characteristics of the reservoirs.

Grant (Elevation 8,667) Denver WSFO (Elevation 5,286)
Prec i pit at i on Temperature Precipitati on Temperature
(i nch) ( of ) (i nch) (OF)
0.55 20.0 0.61 29,9
0.42 24.2 0.67 32.8
0.91 29.2 1. 21 37.0
1. 40 36.3 1. 93 47.5
2,08 44.4 2.64 57.0
1. 31 54.0 1. 93 65,0
2,23 58.9 1.78 73.0
1.85 56.7 1. 29 71.6
1.20 50.3 1.13 62,8
1. 22 40,8 1.13 52.0
0.67 28.4 0.76 39.4
u.76 23.0 0,43 32.6

TABLE III-2
FLOOD CONTROL RESERVIOR PARAMETERS

Storage (Acre-feet)

Permanent* Surcharge
Reservoir Total Pool Flood Control Above Spi 11 way
Chatfield 231,430 26,660 204,740 115,760
Cherry Creek 93, 920 13,960 79,960 134,470
Be ar Creek 30,810 1,910 28,830 47,440**

14.60

49.3

*Permanent pool storage includes recreational/multipurpose pools and sedi-
ment control volumes.

15,Sl

38.8

**Above top of flood control pool.

Cherry Creek Dam 1 oc ated 12 mi 1 es ups tream from the mou th of Cherry Creek
was the first of the reservoirs completed, first storing water in 1957.
This reservoir controls 386 square miles of the Cherry Creek basin.

Chatfield Reservoir is located on the South Platte River just downstream of
its confluence with Plum Creek.
