These <br />include structural improvements, emergency preparedness and flood warning, and increased <br />public awareness, This H<v.ard Mitigation Plan has been prepared. with the intention of offering <br />concrete, realistic suggestions that the Community of Wattenberg can initiate to help mitigate the <br />l100d hazard. Due to financial constnlints, however, some mitigation options contained in this <br />repon will require outside help for funding. Other mitigation altematives, such as incrt:asing <br />emergency pr<.paredness <lnd creating a local flood monitoring and warning system will r<:quire <br />suppon from the Weld County Omce of Emergency Management and 'can be immediately <br />implemented by the community. <br /> <br />1ZI Recommendation 1. Clean Ditches and Culverts <br /> <br />What: Prior to 1997 flood season, clean ditches, culverts of debris and silt. Develop <br />annual ditch and culvert maintenance program <br /> <br />Who: : Transportation Division, Weld County Depanmtnt of Public works. <br /> <br />When: During the road maintenance season and bcfore'the flood season of February <br />through July.
