COLORADO. IN GENERAL. THE STUDY AREA COMPRISES <br />THE FLOODPLAIN OF THE BLUE RIVER ONLY THROUGH THE TOW~ OF <br />BRECKENRIDGE. BUT TABULATES PEAK DISCHARGES ON THE BLUE RIVER <br />TO ITS CO~FLUENCE WITH DILLON RESERVOIR. RECORDS INDICATE <br />THAT HIO DAt1AGWG FLOODS HAVE OCCURRED \~ITHIN THE RECENT <br />PAST. BOTH OF THESE FLOODS WERE IN 1965. SINCE 1965. GOOSE <br />PASTURE TARNS RESERVOIR. A MULTI-PURPOSE PROJECT INVOLVING <br />RECREATION AND MUNICIPAL WATER PROVIDES A HIGH DEGREE OF <br />INCIDENTAL FLOOD PROTECTION TO THE AREA DOWNSTREAM. BUT FLOOD <br />DAMAGE OUT OF THE RESERVOIR AND FROM THE TRIBUTARIES OF THE <br />BLUE rrIVER MAY STILL OCCUR. <br /> <br />STUDIES MADE FOR THIS REPORT SHOW THAT FLOODS LARGER <br />THAN THOSE IN THE PAST COULD OCCUR IN THE FUTURE IN THE STUDY <br />AREA. THIS REPORT CONTAINS INFORMATIO~ ON PAST FLOODS AND <br />~lAPS. PROFILES Atm CROSS-SECTIONS THAT INDICATE THE APPRO)<IMATE <br />- EXTENT AND DEPTH OF INUNDATION FROM LARGE FLOODS THAT CAN <br />REASONABLY BE EXPECTED TO OCCUR IN THE FUTURE.
