Box 1415
Broomfield, Colorado 80038

Community: City of Broomfield,
Colorado
FIRM Panel No.: 085073 0220 D
Effective Date of
This Revision: JAH 25 1994

102-I

Dear Mayor Shulze:

This is in response to a request for a revision to the effective Flood
Insurance Study (FIS) and National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) map for
your community. Specifically, this responds to a letter dated September 13,
1993, from Mr. Tim Doherty, Civil Engineer, City of Broomfield, regarding the
effective Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) for the City of Broomfield,
Colorado. Mr. Doherty requested that we revise the effective FIRM to show
the effects of the relocation of the Nissen Reservoir No. 2 spillway and the
construction of the Nissen Reservoir No. 2 Downstream Channel. All of the
data required to complete our review of this request were submitted with
Mr. Doherty's September 13 letter and with a letter dated October 29, 1993,
from Mr. Charles A. McKnight, P.E., Sellards and Grigg, Inc.

Because this Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) shows the effects of a publicly
sponsored flood-control project that reduces flooding to existing
development, fees were not assessed for the review.

We have completed our review of the submitted data and the flood data shown
on the effective FIRM and have revised the FIRM to modify the floodplain
boundary delineations and zone designations of a flood having a I-percent
probability of being equaled or exceeded in any given year (base flood) along
the Nissen Reservoir No. 2 Downstream Channel. Due to the relocation of the
Nissen Reservoir No. 2 spillway, the Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) from
just downstream of the intersection of Main Street and Miramonte Boulevard
upstream to Nissen Reservoir No. 2 has been removed. In addition, the SFHA
along the Nissen Reservoir No. 2 Downstream Channel, located approximately
700 feet west of Eagle Road, has been added to the FIRM from the confluence
with Nissen Reservoir Channel upstream to Nissen Reservoir No.2. This
increase in the SFHA is entirely contained within a City of Broomfield
Drainage Easement.
