WAGES AND SALARIES <br /> <br />a. Attention of Bidders is particularly called to the requirements con- <br />cerning the payment of not less than the prevailing wage and salary <br />rates specifi ed in the Contract Documents and the condi ti ons of <br />employment with respect to certain categories and classifications of <br />emp 1 oyees. <br /> <br />b. The rates of pay set forth under GENERAL CONDITIONS are the mi nimums <br />to be pai d duri ng the 1 ife of the Contract. It is therefore the <br />responsibil i ty of Bi dders to inform themsel ves as to Davi s-Bacon <br />requi rements as well as to the 1 oea 1 1 abor conditi ons such as the <br />length of work day and work week, overtime compensation, health and <br />welfare contributions, labor supply and prospective changes or <br />adjustments of rates. <br /> <br />B. EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY <br /> <br />Attention of Bidders is particularly called to the requirement for <br />ensuring_ that employees and applicants for employment are not discriminated <br />against because of their race, color, rel igion, sex, 01' national origin. The <br />Contractor will be requi red to take aff-i rmat-i ve acti on to ensure that <br />employees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against. <br /> <br />C. "SECTION 3" COMPLIANCE IN THE PROVISION OF TRI\INING, EMPLOYMENT AND <br />BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES <br /> <br />Attention of bidders is particularly called to the so.-called Section 3 <br />provisions which require that, to the greatest extent feasible, opportunities <br />for training and employment be given to lower-income residents of the project <br />area and contracts for work in connection with the project be awarded to busi- <br />ness concerns which are located in or owned in substantial part by persons <br />residing in the project area. <br /> <br />1-7 <br />
