d. Coordination Team: The V,S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps), along with the
V,S, Fish and Wildlife Service (VSFWS) and the four affected State fish and wildlife agencies
formed a Coordination Team to develop criteria, submit project plans, develop project priority
listings, enhance public awareness of the project, and resolve conflicts that may develop. Each
State provides initial screening and prioritization of its recommended acquisition and
development sites, as well as providing input into the development plans, and provides
recommendations on acquisition based on results of willing seller surveys. The Corps performs
surveys of willing sellers for potential acquisition sites, prepares all necessary approval
documents, conducts planning and design activities, and ensures that coordination and
consultation is maintained with the VSFWS, the affected States, the V.S, Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA), the V.S, Soil Conservation Service (SCS), and other appropriate
agencies, The VSFWS works with each State and the Corps to develop restoration projects and
provides input on the evaluation and monitoring of the success of the project. The Coordination
Team meets approximately every quarter to discuss current and future activities and priorities,
funding, and other issues.
