for the two preliminary profiles and were specified with Method 1. An
B.4 encroachment was specified for the next three sections (0.55. 0.86.
and 0.94) and a 10.4 encroachment was specified for the last two sections.
The input for second trial is shown on page 1 of Appendix III.
For the second trial. the first profile is a natural profile as
before. The second profile reflects the combination of encroachments
as discussed. A third profile was also computed using Method 1 to
read in selected encroachment stations. To select the stations. the
computed stations from the first run were located on the cross section
plots. Some of the computed encroachment stations would require exces-
sive fill on the f100dway; therefore. they were adjusted based on
cross section geometry. The adjusted stations were input for the third
profile.
The Method 1 encroachment option requires reading in the stations
of left and right encroachment. The data can be read in on an X3 card
for a single profile run or on an ET card for multiple profile run. Only
one field is read on the ET card for a given profile and that field is
called by variable INQ on the Jl card. To read both left and right
encroachment stations. additional fields on the ET card are required.
Tne INQ field of the ET card contains the ET card field number N for
the location of the left encroachment station. a decimal point. and
then the number 1 for Method 1. The right encroachment is specified
in field (N+1) of the ET card. For example. a 9.1 would indicate
Method 1 with encroachment stations in fields 9 and 10 of the ET card.
Using the ET card allows the user to run a natural water surface pro-
file as well as encroachment profiles using Method 1. This would not be

14
