I'
r
I

THE
BIG THOMPSON
FLOOD

PUBLISHER
C. F. Boone

EDITOR
Don Cotten

PHOTOGRAPHY BY
Tim Asbury, Dave Thomas, Mike
Whiteman, Jerry Lamson

ABOUT THE COVERS:
Front: Only a short time ago Glen Haven and Glen
Comfort were quiet, restful mountain communities.
The flood of July 31,1976 changed all that. These
scenes of the destruction wreaked by the
rampaging Big Thompson River are some of the
first photographs taken of this area.

Inside Front: The destruction was total from
Drake eastward to the mouth of the canyon, five
miles west of Loveland. Roads were cut to ribbons,
concrete bridges reduced to gravel.

Inside Back: Hundreds of volunteers braved the
treacherous roads into the canyon to bring aid and
comfort to the afflicted. Here workers discuss yet
another trip into the stricken Big Thompson
Ca nyon.

Back: Like a Shipwreck on a reef, the battered
hulk of an automobile lies stranded by the
receding waters of the flood.

To order additional copies send $3.00 plus 50 cents postage for
each copy to:

C.
