Webb
Mayor, City and County of Denver
2000 West Third Avenue
Denver, Colorado 80223

Community: City and County of Denver,
Colorado
Community No.: 080046
Panel Affected: 0014 C
Effective Date of
This Revision: MAR 0 7 1996

102-D-A

Dear Mayor Webb:

This is in response to a request for a revision to the effective National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP)
map for your community. Specifically, this responds to a letter dated January 29, 1996, from Mr. John
Gaines, Chief Planning Engineer, Wastewater Management Division, Department of Public Works, City
and County of Denver, regarding the effective Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) for the City and County
of Denver, Colorado. Mr. Gaines requested that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
revise the effective FIRM to show the correct elevation of the flood having a I-percent chance of being
equaled or exceeded in any given year (base flood) along the South Platte River East Bank Split Flow.

All data required to complete our review of this request were submitted with Mr. Gaines' January 29
letter. Because this Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) solely corrects a mapping error, fees were not
assessed for the review.

We have completed our review of the submitted data and the flood data shown on the effective FIRM,
and have revised the FIRM to show the correct base flood elevation (BFE) along the South Platte River
East Bank Split Flow south of West 8th Avenue.

The actual BFE determined along the South Platte River East Bank Split Flow from West 8th Avenue to
approximately 600 feet south of West 8th Avenue in the hydraulic analysis used to develop the flood risk
information shown on the FIRM dated September 28, 1990, is 5,200.6 feet, referenced to the National
Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 (NGVD). The BFEs shown on the FIRM are rounded to the nearest
whole foot; therefore, as a result of this revision, the BFE on the FIRM south of West 8th A venue has
been revised from 5,203 feet NGVD to 5,201 feet NGVD. In addition, the BFE of 520 feet NGVD
shown approximately 600 feet downstream of West 8th Avenue along the South Platte River has been
corrected to 5,201 feet NGVD. No changes were made to the floodplain boundaries.

The modifications are shown on the enclosed annotated copy of FIRM Panel 0014 C. This LOMR hereby
revises this panel of the effective FIRM dated September 28, 1990.
