SECTION VI SUMMARY OF PHASE A STUDY PRELIMINARY MEETINGS A~D DATA GATHERING Preliminary meetings were held with all groups concerned in the master planning contract for Sanderson and Weir Gulches, Th8 meetings provided direction and coordination for the progression of the study. Separate meetings were held with Denver, Lakewocd and Jefferson County. In Denver, coordination for the project came through the offices of the Wastewater Control Division. All preliminary meetings, however, provided input from engineering, planning, management, parks and recreation and traffic offices. Meetings held with the City of Lakewood, which were handled through the Department of Community Services, also reflected input from engineering, pl..nnin'l, p<lrks and recc",ation and leg<l1. Jefferson County administrative offices were also kept updated on the pro- grcssion of the study. 3. Field survey information On the three gulches which included topography and channel cross-sect~on com~leted by the City of Denver for the Corps of EngLneers Ln 1961. 4. Land status along the gulches. 5. Topography and facilities of the Agricultural Ditch and Reservoir Company. 6. State highway plans at gulch crossings. 7. Projected city arterial street plans. 8. City of Denver flood plain maps for Sanderson and weir Gulches through Denver. 9. Available recorded rainfall and runoff data for the metropolitan area. 10. Subdivision plans which have or will effect the drainage system operation. The collection of all this information greatly assisted in the progression and completion of the master planning study. Review and progress meetings were held with the District, Denver, Lakewood and Jefferson County. Following the procedures outlined in Calculation Methods Used , for Damagc Potential Analysis in Section IV, the dam~ge potent~al in dollars was determined for each storm occurrence ~nterval. Alternative plans for eliminating or minimizing the damage potential were next evaluated. The alternatives considercd for possible application included: The information obtained through contacts and meetings with these organizations in every o~se had some effect on ~he s~~tus of the gulches. Some of the items of data which were collected include the following: I. Corps of Engineers flood plain studies for portions of Sanderson, No. Sanderson and Weir Gulches. 2.
