which are lower or at grade with adjacent street crowns
create the potential for basement and first floor
flooding of residences. This is particularly apparent
along Arkansas and Otero Avenues, and along Railroad
Avenue and Second Street. Ponding of stormwater along
the railroad grade promotes insect infestation, and
maintenance problems for the adjacent streets and
intersections.

West Basin

Flooding west of Ordway can result from runoff
which originates immediately north of the Town, and from
flows out of the West basin. County Road 17 has
provided the conveyance of these flows in the past.
Once the capacity of County Road 17 is exceeded, the
flood waters will spread over the agricultural areas
west of County Road 17, and to ~he Ordway West
subdivision. No building structures are currently
impacted, only pUblic facilities such as road
intersections and culverts. Debris deposition within
agricultural areas would be the primary type of damage
which could occur from shallow floodwater moving
overland.

6
