TASK ORDER
CHERRY CREEK PMP SUPPORTING ANALYSES
OCTOBER 2002

The following additional scientific data and analysis is needed to be include in the Draft Final Report for the
"Site Specific Cherry Creek Probable Maximum Precipitation Study".

TASK I
Additional detailed storm analysis is needed for inclusion the A W A and CWCB study findings. The consultant
will find storm and rain data for the following severe weather events and maximize and transpose the storms in
the Cherry Creek Basin for analysis and include this analysis in the Final Report. The additional severe storm
events that are needed are :
. June 16 -17, 1965 Plumb Creek
. Fort Collins - July 28, 1997
. Pawnee Creek - July 29-30, 1997

.

Holly, Colorado - June 18,1965, and
Frijole Creek - July 2,1981

.

TASK II
Compute the low-level surface "sub-cloud" winds for direction and speed for the selected storm events for the
Cherry Creek PMP technical review. The consultant will compute cloud layer wind direction and speed, cloud
layer precipitation axis, cloud layer axis, sub-cloud layer wind direction and speed, sub-cloud precipitation axis,
and elevation lift for 150 miles of inflow for the following storms
. Penrose, Colorado - June 3-4, 1921 .
. Masonville, Colorado - September 10, 1938 .
. Fort Collins - July 28, 1997 .
. Logan County on Pawnee Creek - July 29- .
30, 1997

Plum Creek - June 16, 1965
Falcon, Colorado - June 17, 1965
Holly, Colorado - June 18,1965, and
Frijole Creek - July 2, 1981

TASK III
Perform a preliminary PMF routing for the determination of the reservoir correlations using the new PMP
estimates/values. The analysis will assist in the sensitivity comparisons for the selected storm events and
include the data and discussion of this anaylisis in the Final Report.

TASK IV
Expand ofthe A W A's technical review ofthe Corp's and NWS PMP 1995 Study,
a) Evaluation and comparison of the AW A 2001-2 study approaches to the NWS's July 1995 study.
b) Computation of the within and without rainfall curves for the selected Colorado storms for the standard
10-, 100-, 200-, 500-, 1000-, and 5000- square miles design storms.
c) Incorporation of the additional storm evaluations and findings in Task I into the final report.

TASK V
Participate in additional coordination meetings with the interested parties, state agencies, and federal
representatives and expand the final report.

a) Solicitation ofNWS participation on the technical review panel chores.
b) Inclusion of the additional technical support and comments from the Technical Review Panel and
National Weather Service into the Final Report

** Cost for additional data requested for the completion of the Cherry Creek PMP Study and Final Report has
been calculated at $42,000. **
