<br />INTRODUCTI01\ <br /> <br />Pm'pose and Scope <br />This Hydrology Addendum (HA) was prepared to assure 1hat the March 16, 1995 revised FrS for <br />La Plata County, Co:lorado, Unincorporated Areas, Ireet> the basic technical n'quirements for <br />designation and approval by the CWCB. Colorado statutes require that local governments obtain <br />from the CWCB the designation and approval of floodplain information for its use in regulatory <br />purposes. This HA provides a means for the PIS to meet that statutory objective. <br /> <br />This HA includes: <br /> <br />1. AuthOlization for the addendum and its purpose and scope; <br /> <br />2. Study area description including information on the community, the watershed, any known <br />flooding history and flooding problems, previous ,.tudie;; and projects, and community <br />response to the CWCB designation and approval process; <br /> <br />3. Description of hydrologic and hydraulic infonnation; and <br /> <br />4. Floodplain management information. <br /> <br />AI~thoriz~tion <br />The CWeB has certain statutoJry responsibilities relating to the designation and approval of <br />floodwater runoff channels or basins as follows: <br /> <br />... "to devise and fonnulate methods, means, and plans for bringing about the greater <br />utiization of the waters of the state and the prevention of flood damages therefrom, and <br />to designate and approve storm or floodwater mnoJf channels or basins, and to make such <br />de,.ignations available to legislative bodies of cities and incOlporated Counties, to County <br />planning commissions, and to boards of adjustment of cities, incorporated Counties, and <br />counties of this state"... Section 37-60.106(1)(c) of the Colorado Revised Statues (CftS). <br /> <br />CWCB designation and approval is needed for the La Plata County, Colorado, Unincorporated <br />Areas, March 16, 1995 revised FrS. The CWCB has prepared this HA as a means of designating <br />La Plata County's PIS so that the community can better implement its floodplain management <br />program. <br />
