<br />The National Emergency Management Association <br />Promoting Excellence in State Emergency Management <br /> <br />The National Emergency Management Association (NEMA) is the professional association of state, pacific and <br />caribbean insular state emergency management directors committed to: <br /> <br />-Providing national leadership and expertise in comprehensive emergency management; <br /> <br />-Serving as a vital information resource for state and territorial directors and their governors; and <br /> <br />-Forging strategic partnerships to advance continuous improvements in emergency management. <br /> <br />NEMA began in 1974 when the state directors of emergency services united to exchange information on common <br />concerns.
