For Lay Creek and Big Gulch, the flood discharges computed in this
study are much lower than the flood discharges computed for the
Craig area. Examination of basin characteristics reveal that the
lower values in the Lay area are caused by different precipitation
patterns (design storms) and much lower average basin slopes. The
different precipitation patterns are caused by aerial adjustments
to the design cloudburst storms to spread them over entire basins,
The basins in the Craig area are much smaller and are covered by
entire cloudburst storms. Examination of basin slopes show the
slopes in the Craig area are generally much steeper, on the order of
3 to 6 times higher.

CONCLUSION

This report documents the procedures used in computing the 10-, 50-
, 100- and SOD-year flood discharges for selected flooding sources
studied in the City of Craig and Moffat County Flood [nsurance
Studies. The results of this study are presented in the Results
Section of this report.

If any agency or individual wishes to use the data developed for
this report, it would be beneficial if the individual or agency
contacted the Federal Insurance and Hazard '>1itigation, Building
710, Federal Center, Denver, Colorado.

This report is submitted for review nnd approval.

-;:~~~i;/

Ty e Smart
Project Engineer

&~ccv,..{L ~~n.0,,).z::L7~o..l-~1-jl:
E ward G.
