Flood Insurance Studies are indeed compatible with previous
studies,

Using the regional curves in the Flood Insurance Studies

resulted in inconsistent answers because they do not retlect

reservoir operations nor detined the assumptions made in
arriving at contributing drainage area values.

Finally, please note the 100-year discharges are only

slightly higher than the May, 1973 flood peak at 11,000 efs

which was recorded at the Littleton Gage near Centennial Race

Track,

Hydraulics

No new HEC-2 hydraulic computations were made in this

report. Rather cross-section and profile information were just

simply transferred onto one set of profiles and maps from the
sources listed in Table 1.

Several items of interest were noted in ;this process,
First, the profiles herein show a low watersurface line on July

1. 1983 rather than a channel thalweg as given in ;the flood

insurance studies. When this low water line was plotted from

the July I, 1983 mapping done by Falcon Air Maps a number of

channel bottom fluxations did not appear, the most notable

being the Brown's Ditch Diversion Dam, There are two main

reasons for this, One. flows were around 1900 cfs in the river

-7-
