<br /> <br />INTERPRETATION OF DATA <br /> <br /> <br />Flooded area maps, profiles, and selected cross sections <br /> <br /> <br />are provided in the report to define the limits of flooding that <br /> <br /> <br />would occur during a lOO-year flood or 500-year flood. Hypotheti- <br /> <br /> <br />cal examples of these presentations, depicting the areal limits and <br /> <br /> <br />elevations of the respective future floods at an imaginary location, <br /> <br /> <br />are shown on the following page. <br /> <br /> <br />The lateral limits of flooding from the lOO-year flood <br /> <br /> <br />are shown by the blue-shaded area. crossing this area, the wavy <br /> <br /> <br />elevation lines represent water surface contours at S-foot inter- <br /> <br /> <br />vals, and the solid blue area indicates the additional area that <br /> <br /> <br />would be inundated by the 500-year flood. The flood profile shows <br /> <br /> <br />the relative depth of floodwaters along the centerline of the stream. <br /> <br /> <br />The cross section example indicates the depth and lateral extent of <br /> <br /> <br />flooding that would occur at the specified cross section, other <br /> <br /> <br />information on f1oodflow depths at the location of the cross section <br /> <br /> <br />is tabulated below.
