<br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />-3- <br /> <br />Elevations in the watershed range from 7,700 to 13,100 feet, with <br />the elevations at the Town of Vail and Vail Pass being 8,200 and 10,600 <br />feet, respectively. <br />The 102 square mile Gore Creek watershed is divided into many <br />smaller drainages, fifteen having been named on the U.S.G.S. mapping: <br /> <br />Northside Basins <br /> <br />Southside Basins <br /> <br />Upper Gore Creek <br />Deluge Creek <br /> <br />Black Gore Creek with <br />Tributaries: <br /> <br />Main Gore Creek <br /> <br />Polk Creek <br /> <br />Bighorn Creek <br /> <br />Mi 11 er Creek <br /> <br />Pitkin Creek <br /> <br />Timber Creek <br /> <br />Mill Creek <br /> <br />Booth Creek <br />Spraddl e Creek <br />Middle Creek <br /> <br />Red Sandstone Creek and <br />Tributary Indian Creek <br /> <br />Buffehr Creek <br /> <br />For the purpose of this hydrologic study, the Gore Creek basin <br /> <br />is divided into 27 sub-basins with catchment areas from 0.6 to 9 square <br /> <br />miles. These 27 catchments have been given an additional identifier <br /> <br />which helps locate the catchment along Gore Creek as well as identifying <br /> <br />its location with respect to Gore Creek (see Table 1-1 and Plate 1). <br /> <br />Sub-basins B-1 and B-2 drain into the Upper Black lake and Black <br /> <br />Lake No.2, respectively. Sub-basins N-l through N-16 are located on <br /> <br />the north side of Gore Creek and have a southerly, sunny exposure. Sub- <br /> <br />basins S-1 through S-9 are on the south side of Gore Creek. <br />
