The balance of the funds authorized in 1979 Colo. Sess. Laws, Chapter 344, Section 4, for the now completed Chatfield Project Channel Improvement, in the amount of seven hundred and sixteen thousand dollars ($716,000) shall be reallocaced as tollows: .'" (A) The Colorado water conservation board is hereby authorized to expend up to one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000), previously authorized for construction of. the Chatfield project channel improvement, on operation and maintenance of the Chatfield project channel improvement through contracts with the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District or other political subdivisions of the state for the performance of such operation and maintenance. The board shall expend such funds to fulfill its contractual obligations to the United States Army Corps of Engineers to operate and maintain the Chatfield project channel improvement, pursuant to agreements entered into between the board and the United States Army Corps of Engineers on September 7, 1977 and January 29, 1980. (B) The Colorado water conservation board is hereby authorized to expend up to six hundred sixteen thousand dollars ($616,000), previously authorized for construction of the Chatfield project channel improvement, as grants for the construction of flood control facilities in the Denver metropolitan reach of the South 'Platte River. The board may contract with either or both the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District and the City and County of Denver as project sponsors to expend such funds for flood control projects which the board determines will prevent flood damages.
