Lined channel through restricted reaches, bridge and
culvert improvements, and long-term right-of-way acquisition
to accomplish improvements.

4) Reach R-4, Confluence with Leyden Creek to 900' : west of
Ward Road:

Grass lined channel, 100-year design, bridge replacement
at Simms Street and Ward Road.

5) Reach L-l, Confluence with Ralston Creek to 1200' + north of
72nd Avenue:

Dear Mr. Wright:

The District has received approval from the City of Arvada
and Jefferson County to proceed into Phase B of the Master Plan
for Ralston and Leyden Creeks. The District's Board of Directors
has also given its approval to proceed into Phase B. You are to
proceed with Phase B of the study with the specific direction for
the reaches as listed below:

1) Reach R-l, Clear Creek to Pierce Street:

A grass lined channel-design frequency of 100-year.
Replace crossing at 56th Avenue, Railroad, Lamar Street,
and Nolan Street.

Grass lined channel, 100-year design, and bridge improve-
ment at Simms Street. Suggest some improvements to the 72nd
Avenue crossing to increase its capacity or to protect it
during a 100-year flood.

6) Reaches R-5, L-2, and L-3:

The remaining reaches for bot!; Creeks are to be the
non-structural strategy.

. P:ovisions should be made to incorporate the Blunn Reservoir design
lnto thlS master plan. The flow below Van Bibber Creek should be adjusted
to allow for the proposed detention dam. Please advise what items you
need to accomplish these two items.

If you have no questions, consider this letter the notice-to-proceed
for Phase B. We will look for the completion of the draft report early
in February, 1977. Please prepare a schedule for the Phase 8 work. Aiter
reviewing the schedule, I.will arrange meetings to discuss the details
and progress of the study with your staff. If you have any questions,
please call.

Reach R-2, Pierce Street to Garrison Street:

From Pierce Street to Wadsworth Bv-Pass - status quo
as there is an existing grass lined channel. However
investigate flood proofing for 1 or 2 apartments. Fr~m
Wadsworth By-Pass to old Wadsworth - replace culvert at
Wadsworth By-Pass; compare two possibilities for the
channel: a) purchase of homes remaining in the revised
100-year floodway or flood plain; or!:.) grass lined channel.
From old Wadsworth to Yukon Street - replace culvert at

Sltlon, bUll dIng removal, and future regrading of area.
From Yukon Street to Carr Street - status quo through
park area; investigate the need to replace the culvert
at Carr Street. From Carr Street to Garrision Street -
