tI The maximum discharge giyen tor Beaver Creek i~ that due to the storm which ocCurred more than 24 hours beCore th.e CaUure ol the Schaeffer reservoir (in the channel ot Bea. yer
Creek, 9 miles above Us mouth). The amount passing the spillway and waste ga.tes oC the Schaeffer reservoir at the tIme DC the maximum natural dischar~e of Beaver Creek was
computed to be 3,I00second~Ceet. To this was added the <irsi.nage to Bea.ver Crook {r-om6~..5 squa.re miles between the dam and the mouth. The maximum dIscharge ot Red Creek,
thech1eftributary, was Jound to be4,490second~Ceet, or 93second-feet-persquaremile. Applying th1<; unit run-otI to the entire additional drainage area gives a run-on oC 6,370 second~
Ceett which added tothe 3/100 second~leet passing the dam gives 8 total maximum natural discharge of 9,470 second~(eet (or Beaver Creek at its mouth. For the M'lximum
discnarge due to the breaking oC the SChaeffer reservoir, see PP. 17-18.
b The area ot 48 square miles is that of Turkey Creek below the Teller reservoir, as little or no water passed the (l:1m durin~ the period oCmaximum discharge of the cr~ek,
c Tho discharge given above represents the computed di~lmrg~ at the mouth. The 1DeasnrlnR point was a considemble dIstance above the mouth, and the unit run.ot! llbon
that point was applied to the area above the mouth to detennine the total diSCharge. The hYdraulic Cactors aro those for the point ot actual mCo'$t!rement.
d 'Phe discharge of Arkansas River at Pueblo as given OU p. 20 was 10-3,000 second teet.
