The reach of the South Pl atte River in Littleton will be <br />channeli zed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the near future. For <br />that reason, the Di strict master pl an for the Li ttl eton area uses the USACE <br />planned channelization. No additional hj{lraulic engineering was performed <br />by the Di strict for thi s reach of the river. <br /> <br />The attached report presents a slllTllary of previous studies performed in this <br />reach of the South Pl atte River for the Federal Insurance Agency and for <br />Centennial Il:JW1S. Eval uations are made against the Wright Water Enginers <br />1984 st udy. <br /> <br />It was determined that the Centennial Il:JW1S 1983 study was hj{lraul ically <br />s im il ar to the WWE 1984 st udy res ult s for a 12,000 c fs flood disc harge , <br />lIhile the 1978 Flood Insurance Study was inconsistent for the sane dis- <br />charge. <br /> <br />The WWE 1984 study presents a revised fl oodpl ain and fl oodway del ineation <br />for the subject reach of the South Platte River. It is supported by field <br />surveys and h)l:1raul ic mod ell ing canputer analyses. <br />
