.

2

More detailed topographic information and improved hydraulic analyses upstream of 30th Street result
in both increases and decreases in the base flood elevations (BFEs), The maximwn increase in BFE,
2.1 feet, occurs approximately 70 feet downstream of 30th Street. The maximum decrease in BFE,
0,8 foot, occurs approximately 380 feet upstream of 30th Street.

The width of the Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) decreased from 30th Street to Foothills Parkway
because of the construction of the channels and culverts. The maximum decrease in SFHA width,
2,400 feet, occurs just upstream of the BNRR crossing. Upstream of 30th Street, the width of the SFHA
increases and decreases. The maximum increase in SFHA width, 30 feet, occurs approximately 420 feet
downstream of 28th Street. The maximum decrease in SFHA width, 100 feet, occurs approximately
70 feet upstream of 30th Street, The increases in SFHA width are due to more detailed topographic
information.

The width of the regulatory floodway increases and decreases from 30th Street to 28th Street. The
maximum increase in flood way width, 60 feet, occurs approximately 520 feet downstream of 28th Street.
The maximum decrease in floodway width, 50 feet, occurs approximately 70 feet upstream of 30th Street.
The floodway has been eliminated between Foothills Parkway and 30th Street because the base flood is
contained within the channel in this reach, All affected property owners have been notified of the revision
to the Goose Creek floodplain and floodway,

The base floodplain delineation for Boulder Creek was revised along the left overbank from 38th Street
to the BNRR crossing to account for the elimination of overflow from Goose Creek,

The modifications are shown on the enclosed annotated copies of FIRM Panels 08013C0395 F and
0415 F; Profile Panels 194P, 195P, and 196P; and the Floodway Data Table for Goose Creek, Cross
Sections H through J have been eliminated through the reach. This LOMR hereby revises these panels
of the effective FIRM and the Flood Profiles and Floodway Data Table in the FIS report, both dated
June 2, 1995.

The following table is a partial listing of existing and modified BFEs:

Location

Existing BFE
(feet)*

Modified BFE
(feet)*

Goose Creek:
Approximately 70 feet downstream of 30th Street
Approximately 380 feet upstream of 30th Street
Approximately 400 feet downstream of 28th Street
Approximately 100 feet upstream of 28th Street

5,273
5,277
5,283
5,290

5,276
5,276
5,283
5,290

*Referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum, rounded to the nearest whole foot

Public notification of the revised BFEs will be given in the Daily Camera on or about February 22 and
February 29, 1996, A copy of this notification Is enclosed.
