Th~se cross sections arc shown on the <br />mapping and ate designated by integer numbers. Because the digitized seC- <br />tions indicated water surface elevations rather than true channel bottom <br />elevations, the cross sections Were corrected by field measurement methods. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The National Flood Insurance Program is s Federal program that enables <br />property owners to buy flood insurance at a reasonable, subsidized cost. <br />In return, communities aCe required to carry out floodplain management <br />measureS to protact lives and new construction from future flooding. <br />Flood insurance through the National Flood Insurance Program is available <br />to all residents of Ouray County and the City of Ouray under the Emergency <br />Phase of the Program and to residents of Ridgway under the Regular Phase of <br />the program. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Aerial photography and topographic r.apping for this study were provided <br />by Ouray County in cooperation with the Colorado Water Conservation Board. <br />The mapping was prepared by Pafford and Associates of Los Angeles, Cali- <br />fornia, and A & S Consultants.
